The hospital's policy was absolutely not bring any food to the patients besides what was being served at proper quantity, time and calories...

Then Twilight came back and saw the whole thing. She blinked.
"Applejack! Are you nuts? You can't sneak food inside a hospital!"

"Look Twi, ah know what it feels to be starvin' inside a hospital, and maybe yer right. But this boy 'ere is a tough dragon! Ah don't think it'll be much of a deal for 'im"

In the middle of their argument, Spike was already eating that pie.

"Whoa, look at him go!" said Applejack. "Take yer time, I'll cover you if any scary nurse comes here."

"This is soooo goood" Spike moaned with the taste of the pie. "You made it for me...and you took all this trouble to bring it here...thanks a lot!"

"Hey...save me some, will you?"

"That's what you get for sticking around whitout going back home, Twilight"
